An energy storage system integrated at the medium-voltage switchgear level, operating in parallel with the grid to deliver seamless, resilient power for AI data centers.
Smart, Seamless Power for AI Data Centers
A grid-forming medium-voltage uninterruptible power supply (UPS) combines a medium-voltage power conversion system (PCS), battery storage, fast switching and a bypass system into a single, integrated solution.
During normal operation, it continuously conditions power quality and smooths fluctuations in AI workloads. When the grid is disturbed or power is lost, it immediately isolates from the grid, establishes voltage and frequency, and takes over critical loads. Within an AI data center (AIDC) microgrid, it provides power buffering, voltage stabilization and coordinated energy management.

Shared Storage
Power smoothing and seamless backup use the same PCS and battery system, avoiding the need for two independent installations.
State-of-Charge Reserve Allocation
Power and energy capacity are reserved for routine smoothing, while a separate backup reserve is maintained. Local controls and the supervisory EMS coordinate these reserves.
Three Essential Roles
Power Buffering
The system absorbs rapid changes in GPU-cluster power demand within the site, reducing peaks, ramp rates and transients at the point of grid connection. This gives the grid a smoother, more predictable site load profile.
Voltage Stabilization
With grid-forming control, the PCS behaves as a voltage source with virtual inertia and damping. It establishes voltage and frequency references under weak-grid or islanded operating conditions.
Energy Coordination
The system coordinates with the grid, diesel generators, renewable generation, energy storage and the energy management system (EMS). It provides interfaces and control capabilities for peak shaving, valley filling, demand response, renewable-energy integration and future computing-workload scheduling.
